Awards and accolades for Grey Lynn stallholders
The TASTE Farmers Market Awards, which were held on Sunday 1st July, recognised three stars traders in our midst at the Grey Lynn Farmers’ Market: Paris Berlin Organic Bakery, the Salmon Man and new comer to Grey Lynn Relish the Thought.
The awards were judged by top chefs Nadia Lim, Jonny Schwass and Julie Biuso. The judges tasted and sampled an array of products from Farmers Markets from all over the country and judged three of our Grey Lynn stallholders as stand-outs in their categories. Plus Carol and Lynn of Grey Lynn Honey ‘cleaned up’ again this year at the National Honey Show which has took place in Napier last week.
Grey Lynn Beekeeper Carol Downer won the Supreme Award for the second year in a row. She won five first places, three second places & one third place including a first placing for liquid medium honey, naturally granulated dark honey, wholeframe honeycomb and natural & brood beeswax blocks.
This year Carol also entered the photography competition where she also achieved the overall winner supreme award for her three 1st places: people’s choice, close-up print and essay prints.
Carol and Lynn are soon to be buzzing off overseas for some Northern Hemisphere sunshine. They will be absent from the market from 22 July and all markets in August. They will be back at the market in September.
So, stock up on Grey Lynn honey this week and next to get you through the cold winter months!
