Open your boot!
On the last Sunday of the month “booties” from around the area will sell, swap or give away items they no longer need. This new monthly, last Sunday, car boot sale is another local initiative by the local community group Grey Lynn 2030 who have already spearheaded the Farmer’s Market, the Business Association, the Waste-Away group, the Community Choir, Urban Environment and other community projects in Grey Lynn.
The money raised from these car-boot-sales will be used to support more community projects and our admin costs. The car boot market is held in the 24 carparks of the RSC in Francis Street., Grey Lynn.
The RSC has been incredibly supportive of local initiatives and have offered the venue for free to help with fundraising. Says coordinator Suzanne Kendrick “Having a combined car boot sale is less hassle than TradeMe and there’s no sitting in your own own garage for hours! Throw the things you no longer need in the boot, drive to the RSC, then have fun with other locals while selling your stuff!”
The first car boot sale ran on 26th August was filled with 24 locals. bargain hunters came early stall holders found their trash becoming somebody else’s treasure. The market is set now to become a regular local fixture.
This car boot Market is also the beginning of a regular busy last Sunday of the month for West Lynn. Explains Grey Lynn 2030 Chairperson, Suzanne Kendrick “With the 9am Farmer’s Market taking over the Law Centre car park for an extra market and KraftBomb at the Community Centre from 11am, West Lynn is a happening place on the Last Sundays and we are inviting the local businesses to join in the fun.”
Last Sunday of the month car boot sales are planned for 28th October and 24th November 8.30 – 11.30 RSC carpark, 1 Francis St. Grey Lynn.
Come along or if you want to sell we have space for November, December and January markets. $20 per space can be made with Suzanne Kendrick – suzanne@theconnector.co.nz or greylynn2030@gmail.com
