Campertown at the Grey Lynn Park Festival
Residents, tent lovers and hut builders
You are invited to help make a giant tent sculpture with the community for the Grey Lynn Park Festival.
Bring you tent and add it to this wild and playful canvas city. Part monster, part urban design project.
Date: 29th and 30th November
Time: All day/evening
Location: Grey Lynn Park at end of Schofield St and Baildon Rd.
What’s involved? A trip to the park to put up tents, refreshments and food provided.
All comers welcome including grandparents, seniors and gold card holders. Bring your own tent if you have one – on site security provided.

Campertown
Using tents of all shapes and sizes a temporary installation will appear on the hillside in Grey Lynn Park. The immediate task will be to pitch a wild and interwoven collection of spaces, public, private and communal, all of varied size and colour. Imagine the joyful houses of Iceland combined with the charm of the concrete dragon at Auckland Zoo – all made out of tents.
At the same time this project seeks to raise the issue of Auckland’s urban development in response to the Unitary Plan. In a minor way the goal is to question the future of our neighbourhoods as a response to the growing demand for housing intensification.
