Making Auckland Plastic-Bag Free
There is growing public opposition to single-use plastic bags and many cities and countries around the world are introducing bans to reduce litter and conserve resources. Recently an on-line petition has been circulating calling for Auckland to follow suit.
Denise Roche, waste spokesperson for the Greens is hosting a public meeting on Tuesday 6th May at 7.30pm at the Grey Lynn Community Centre at 510 Richmond Road bringing together Aucklanders who want to make a plastic bag-free city. Marine biologist Steph Borelle, who initiated he petition will be attending, as will others who have been actively working to reduce waste in our city so we can share ideas about how – and where – to apply pressure to reduce our plastic bag use in Auckland.
