Our Ten-Year Anniversary Celebration

On behalf of the Grey Lynn 2030 Transition Community, we would like to thank everyone who supported and celebrated our ten-year anniversary with us on 28 October!

We launched our new book ‘A Decade of Positive Vision and Practical Action – Grey Lynn 2030’, and a special edition of a tote bag with the print of the winning painting of this year’s children’s art competition during Plastic FREE July.

We thank the Bread & Butter Bakery and Cafe in Grey Lynn for creating such a beautiful and deliciously tasting birthday cake for Grey Lynn 2030!

We were delighted to hear our speakers – Pippa Coom, Chair Waitemata Local Board; Denise Roche, Waitemata Local Board-member; Dianna Tawharu, who initiated Grey Lynn 2030 in 2008; Vincent (aka Vinnie) Dickie, who was the driving force starting the Grey Lynn Farmers Market in 2009; Charlotte Gordon, who held multiple roles during her time with Grey Lynn 2030; Niki Hare from Transition Town Point Chevalier, and Warren Snow from The Kiwi Bottle Drive. Lynn Green, Gary Marshall and Anthea Ogilvie, who all shared their stories and experiences. We would also like to thank our fabulous MC Adriana Avendaño Christie, Waitemata Local Board-member, as well as the musicians Linn Lorkin & Hershel, and Grant Hewison and Allen Lee for their wonderful entertainment.

A big thank you to our sponsors: Waitemata Local Board, Live Lightly, Hakanoa Handmade Ginger Beer, Karma Cola and Grey Lynn Waste Away, as well as our photographer Izac van der Merwe – IVDM Photography.
