Saint Columba – Community Garden

St Columba Anglican Church and community Centre in Grey Lynn shares its beautiful facilities and grounds with the community. Since June 2017, St Columba has provided a hot lunch every Friday for people from the local community. Food is donated, supported by volunteers. The free meals are supplemented by Food rescue sources such as Kiwi Harvest and Amurt. In addition, the Te Mara St Columba Community garden provides fresh organic greens. Koha helps with things like milk for the tea and coffee. An average of 50-60 people attends each week and these numbers continues to grow.

Eleanor Lane is one of our volunteers who has taken unwanted fruit and veges and turned them into homemade preserve and pickles. These are sold for $3 a jar with proceeds going towards the lunches. She also sources unwanted textiles and these are turned into unique reusable bags for sale at $5 each. All proceeds go towards community programmes such as the Friday lunches and the Christmas Lunch. Please contact St Columba by email on office@saintcolumbas.org.nz, phone 3769119 or call into the Community Centre Hall at 92 Surrey Crescent – Tuesday to Friday 11am to 3.30pm.
