Waitemata: Emergency Readiness
Waitemata Emergency Readiness and Response Plans
These are large documents. We suggest you print them out before you need them. Have a good read before an emergency.
The first draft of this document has to contact Grey Lynn 2030 and the Grey Lynn Residents Group in an emergency. In case you have this copy – we have sadly had to ask for our contact details to be redacted. Currently, we don’t have the resources to be able to help people in an emergency. We are groups of volunteers with no training, no venue, no supplies and no authority.
Many of you follow us on social media. If this is still working in an emergency please follow us on Facebook. We will post what we know.
Currently there are no community emergency hubs in Waitemata. The closest listed in the Waitemata Local Board Readiness and Resilience Plan is in Kohi and St Heliers.
We would like to work with Auckland Emergency Management to develop Community Hubs in the best places. Places where our community already meets. Like the Grey Lynn RSC. There is ample parking and large sheds for storage of supplies behind the building in this Auckland Council owned property. It is currently used to store chairs for events.
We have been working been trying for since the January 2023 to develop our comminty readiness and resilience at a community level.
