Grey Lynn Farmers Market
The idea to set up a Grey Lynn Farmers Market came out of one of the first community meetings of Grey Lynn 2030 held in 2008. Access to locally sourced food is a vital part of our vision of a sustainable community so it was great to see the market get established so quickly through the efforts of a small team committed to practical action.
After incubation inside Grey Lynn 2030 the market was launched in September 2009 as an incorporated society of its own.
The Grey Lynn Farmers Market is 100% community owned and operated with a range of organic, spray-free, and seasonal produce direct from the growers.
Artisan baked goods, cheese, award-winning local honey, seafood, preserves, free range eggs, heritage breed meats, delicious prepared foods, and organic seedlings.
Waste minimisation and plastic bag free
The market has an emphasis on waste minimisation; a unique aspect is the 'Bring it Back' depot where you can bring in or take away glass jars, plastic bags, batteries, cellphones etc. All market waste is composted or recycled if possible and we are working towards zero waste.
Community trading table
Another special feature of the market is the Community Trading Table where backyard growers can sell their homegrown fruits and vegetables. Friends of the Market can use the table for free.

For the kids
The market is super child friendly. Kids can use the community centre playground during market hours.
Keep an eye on the GLFM website for kids activities coming up.
The market is open every Sunday 9am-12.30pm at the Grey Lynn Community Centre, Richmond Road.
Friends of the market
We encourage community participation by offering a Friends of the Market subscription. Membership costs $30 for the year for whole range of weekly specials and a whole range of other benefits plus the right to vote for the management committee which runs the organisation.
