Bike Grey Lynn is one of Bike Auckland's Bike Burbs.
A grassroots movement of communities who come together around a vision of their neighbourhood as a bike-friendly place. We have build a community around cycling. We speak up for safer cycleways, and make it easier for people of all ages and various mobilities to bike and scooter for their transport.
What do we do?
Community – We are a social community of people who bike. We help new cyclists with the confidence to starting riding for transport. We have organised family-friendly group rides, bikes n beers meet ups at our local Malt Pub, transport/urbanism events.
Campaigns – Encouraging local people to choose a bike or scoooter instead of the car. Such as bike to sport, bike to for their shopping and local chores. We know in the City Centre parking is at a premium. Our latest campaign will be to encourage people from car to ebike.
Advocacy – ‘bike-ifying’ local events, showing our Grey Lynn Buisness Association that bikes mean business, working with the Waitemata Local Board, giving in-the-know feedback on Auckland Transport plans for our area. We have also gained media attention.
The two large successful campaigns we have been involved with are:
We mainly update on Facebook. Please do follow us there.
